Please Take From Me My Life…

Some time ago, when I was driving back to KL after an appointment down south, I popped in my Third Day MP3 collection. And when the drive is long and seemed endless, we’d usually find some time to reflect on the words of the songs being played.

One particular track caught my attention – Take My Life – it’s live version was simply brilliant as it expressed the words and intentions clearly.

How many of us have been found to say “Lord, take my life!”, “I surrender all to You!”, “I put my life in Your Hands”, etc. in times when we are OK. When we are happy. Or joyous. With friends in church?

What about when times when we feel just so weary. So challenged. So tired. So helpless. So depressed…

Wouldn’t it be ideal for us to surrender our burdens and ourselves to God who promised to give us rest? Yet, it is typically during those times when we lose sight of God and forget to lay our burdens to Him who can carry us through those times.

So, the chorus of this song is an incredible reminder for all of us that whilst it is great for us to declare ourselves to God then times are good, when times are bad and we seriously just don’t have the strength to cry out to God, then it becomes a plea for God himself to reach out and take our lives instead.

How beautiful that picture that is represented through this song of a God who will never let us go and always has us in His loving hands. Enjoy!

Take My Life – Third Day

Take My Life (Third Day)

How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the sand on the shore
But every time You’ve taken me back
And now I pray You do it once more.

Please take from me my life
When I don’t have the strength
to give it away to You Jesus

How many times have I turned away
The number is the same as the stars in the sky
But every time You’ve taken me back
And now I pray You do it tonight.

Kidd’s 65-foot shot!

For those who missed it, this is a video replay of the shot of the weekend in the NBA – Jason Kidd’s 65 foot momentum shifting heave at halftime that gave the Mavericks a two-point lead over the Clippers..

Kidd’s post-game comment on the shot:

“I got the rebound and I saw that we had two seconds. Jason Terry told me to shoot it. I’m not going for the three-point percentage record so I let it go. I saw it was on line, but a lot of times, when it is on line, it does not go in. I just got lucky.”

Memories of World Cup 2010…

…in pictures…

so much controversy, so many complaints...
How can we not forget Paul...
Lampard's push for video technology...finally?
Green's unforgettable howler vs USA...
Ahhh....the music of tournament...
Suarez's hand of devil?...followed by...
Gyan's penalty miss that was felt throughout Africa...
van Bronckhorst's 30m wonder strike from nowhere!
The now infamous French Revolution version 2010...
New Zealand only undefeated team of WC, including memorable 1-1 draw with Italy!
De Jong's kung fu kick on Alonso...with no red card...

the only other South American to perform, Shakira made sure everyone went waka waka in Africa…

Waka Waka (This Time for Africa (Shakira)

Maradona's strange tactics, inspirational hugs, kisses and press quotes...definitely one of a kind..
The Honda and Vittek show certainly made their dull group lively...
After a dubious offside first goal, Tevez launches a rocket special to beat Mexico in R16
and suddenly Paraguay had a huge increase of fans...
The champs..for the next four years...Spain.

Did I missed out anything else significant? 😀

Don’t Cry For Me…..

My version of the classic Argentinian tear-jerker…

Don’t cry for me Argentina

The truth is you never showed up

All through the match

Only Germans existed

You broke your promise

And kept shooting at a distance…

Have I said too much?

There’s nothing more I can think of to say to you (for 4 more years)

But all you have to do

Is look at me to know

That every pain is real..

Don’t cry for me Argentina…

Don’t cry for me Argentina…

Highlights of the disaster…

Note: Oh yeah…apparently there were В some boring semi-finals played a couple of days back. Holland coming out victorious 3-2 against Uruguay; and Spain cruising past Germany 1-0 (scoreline flattered the Germans considering the total control the Spanish had in this match)

Argentina 4 Germany 0

The score that could have been

Or the headlines В I had foreseen;

Instead I got a reversed nightmare in Cape Town

Where we were completely pummeled to the ground…

Oh the agony, the disappointment, the pain!

It’s such a torture to go through it again…

We should have been the ones to meet Spain,

Oh..the pain, the pain, the pain!!!

On a night when El Diego got his tactics all wrong,

Or was it the German team that was just too strong?

Their offense were brutal, deadly and efficient,

And their defense was compact, disciplined and resilient.

Oh..the pain, the pain, the pain!!!

Slow to react and adapt after trailing by the early goal,

And even after seeing the German gameplan as a whole,

Simply exposed Maradona’s insufficiencies in the tactical area

Instead he was visibly only having hope in his prayer

Tactically, Maradona should not have used the 4-3-3,

Against a side with frightening counter attacking ability;

Instead he should already have known the correct formula,

When we beat the Germans with the 4-4-2 earlier.

Oh..the pain, the pain, the pain!!!

Totally unable to cope with their speedy wingers,

Were our incompetent and slow so-called defenders!

Otamendi was surely the star of the show,

Graciously allowing everything in his path to go…

Masch and Maxi completely lacked creativity in the middle,

Totally outplayed they might as well turn invisible!

Our fearsome attacking trident were simply toothless,

With the creation of so few scoring chances;

Messi ended the tournament goal-less and frustrated,

The burdens of the nation clearly unequally distributed!

Majority of our efforts were from distances too far to be seen

That could barely trouble anyone except for Robert Green..

Oh..the pain, the pain, the pain!!!

28 years would have passed before we get another opportunity

To bring back the coveted World Cup back to our country

Till then, it will yet again be another 4 years of unbearable pain

That can only be cured in Brazil, where Argentina has to reign…

Oh..the pain, the pain, the pain!!!

Waving Flag – K’naan

Waving Flag (K’naan)
When i get older, they’ll call me freedom
Just like a Waving Flag.

When I get older, I will be stronger,
They’ll call me freedom, just like a Waving Flag,
And then it goes back, and then it goes back,
And then it goes backBorn to a throne, stronger than Rome
but Violent prone, poor people zone,
But it’s my home, all I have known,
Where I got grown, streets we would roam.
But out of the darkness, I came the farthest,
Among the hardest survival.
Learn from these streets, it can be bleak,
Except no defeat, surrender retreat, So we struggling, fighting to eat and
We wondering when we’ll be free,
So we patiently wait, for that fateful day,
It’s not far away, so for now we say[Chorus]

So many wars, settling scores,
Bringing us promises, leaving us poor,
I heard them say, love is the way,
Love is the answer, that’s what they say,
But look how they treat us, Make us believers,
We fight their battles, then they deceive us,
Try to control us, they couldn’t hold us,
Cause we just move forward like Buffalo Soldiers.

But we struggling, fighting to eat,
And we wondering, when we’ll be free
So we patiently wait, for that faithful day,
It’s not far away, but for now we say,

[Chorus] 2x

(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And everybody will be singing it
(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And you and I will be singing it
(Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh Ohhhh)
And we all will be singing it
(Ohhh Ohh Ohh Ohh)

[Chorus] 2x

When I get older, when I get older
I will be stronger, just like a Waving Flag,
Just like a Waving Flag, just like a Waving flag
Flag, flag, Just like a Waving Flag

Cry Out To Jesus

The 9/11 terrorism attack. Hurricane Katrina. The H1N1 virus. The Tsunami. The Indonesian quake. The Australian heatwave. Etc…..and most recently…the Haiti earthquake, now with already hundreds of thousands deaths. :-(

Natural disasters or phenomenons that claim lives all over the world. is it just me or does it seem more frequent in thisВ millennium? В Hmmm. Anyway, human responses has been quite similar – either they would question God for bringing such calamities…or they would be moved and turn back to God…for refuge, for support, for love.

Makes me wonder too if God sometimes allow these things to happen so that His people would be ‘poked’ to turn back to Him? And the scary frequency of ‘reminders’ these past couple of years would give us some food for thought. Do we need reminders to turn back to God?

Anyhow, I would like to share an inspirational song to all the quake victims in Haiti. May it help them all to get back on your feet again as they cry out to Jesus. Amen.

Cry Out To Jesus – Third Day

Cry Out to Jesus (Third Day)

To everyone who’s lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye

And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there’s nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right

There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He’ll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus

For the marriage that’s struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith and love
They’ve done all they can to make it right again
Still it’s not enough

For the ones who can’t break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you’re not alone in your shame
And your suffering

When your lonely (when you’re lonely)
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus

To the widow who suffers from being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight

“I don’t like SPAM!”

Bummer. Spent a big chunk of my night cleaning up all the contaminated comment spam which struck my blogs. Yup, it was not only one blog but all my other blogs too, Our Playful Pups , Our Photo Gallery and Our Video Vault were all not spared! I don’t like SPAM!

Immediately installed some anti-spam plugins to prevent any further madness! I don’t like SPAM!

Is it some kind of conspiracy? Is it some form of cyber-attack? Did the price of spam go down overnight?!! I don’t like SPAM!

Anyway, all these spam triggered memories of Monthy Python’s classic skit. For those of you who have not seen or heard of Monthy Python, then you have not seen how funny sketches should be executed. These blokes from England are pros in creating some of the silliest sketches ever. Their heavy British accent may take some time to get used to, but their sketches are pure masterpieces, and certainly not SPAM!

For those of you already know Monthy Python, this classic SPAM skit video I found on YouTube will definitely put a smile on your face. Enjoy!

Allah Yang Setia

It is indeed gloomy times in Malaysia of late.

To date, four churches have become targets of cowardly arson attacks in the wake of the recent decision of the Malaysian High Court to allow Catholic’s Malay version of their publication The Herald to use the word ‘Allah’.

Personally, it is really sad to see such brutal acts happening in our own backyard. The audacity of these ‘internal terrorism’ clearly reflects how safe Malaysia is. On the other hand, the drama and events we are witnessing in front of our very own eyes has also brought out the voices from all quarters.В A large majority of Christians and non-Christians (including Muslims) have come out to condemn these actions that is threatening national security.

As a Christian, this episode has made me reflect much deeper about my faith and God’s faithfulness.

1. In times of gloominess and darkness, В I’m confident His light would be able to shine brighter!

2. Looking at the brighter side of things, this episode has brought more Christian to their knees in prayer! A weapon oft forgotten, let’s continue to pray fervently for our nation.

3. We should also not allow our emotions to take over the situation. Rather, we should (more than ever) depend on God’s promise that He would be faithful to be with us, trusting God to protect us and eventually make the necessary judgments.

With my eyes turned upon His faithfulness, allow me to share this beautiful piece from the inspiring pen of Jonathan Prawira called Allah Yang Setia. Enjoy!
